Green sky = bad weather

I skipped out of work soon after lunch Friday to take my son to the clinic to get a cut on his hand looked at, the sky was a nasty shade of green. Green sky is not good.

Tornado sirens sounded just as we finished x-rays. We scooted across the parking lot to the Courthouse. The basement is a former nuclear fallout shelter.

While Jimmy was safe in the basement with my mother-in-law, I snuck outside to get a few pictures. (Yes, I love storms.)

This was a shot out the east doors of the Courthouse, looking south.

Severe weather over Miller, SD.

And this was out the west doors, looking south.

Miller Storm-

It’s eerie to hear those sirens. I shot the video looking west. An assisted living and the hospital/clinic are silhouetted against the sky.

Don’t you love how the FedEx guy is still making his deliveries? He did stay in the basement with us until the sirens shut off.

Three tornadoes were reported in the county, but no major damage from them. Southern Hand County received heavy rain and damaging hail. There are reports of crop loss and injuries to livestock.

Happy Summer Solstice! I hope this is not a sign of what’s to come the rest of the summer.
