My 365 | Weeks 43 + 44

4.20.14 – 5.3.14

I missed my post last week as I didn’t crawl in from my ladies’ trip to California until the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Eeeek I still can’t believe I got to cross that off my bucket list!!!! More about that later (in another post FULL of pictures). First, I need some catching up from Easter weekend.

We snuck a quick family picture in before the Coloradans headed back west.

Brady’s mom took the opportunity, with all the kids home, to move their rodeo buckles and trophies out of her house. 🙂 My boys were super excited to get their daddy’s old belt buckles.317-365-0421-9985

To every thing there is a season. Planting spring wheat on the ranch.

Sometimes, you need to just stop and appreciate the clouds.319-365-0423-0163

We arrived in San Francisco and opted for a “scenic” drive up the California coast. We stopped at this overlook at Muir Beach just after the fog rolled in. At least I could hear the ocean waves crashing below me.

The sun tried to break through the rain several times during our day of winery tours. This was the view from our tasting at Benovia.321-365-0425-0284

It’s supposed to be a photo a day, but I couldn’t decide between the vineyard shot above and this one below. The clouds broke just as the sun went down and we were treated to an awe-inspiring night sky. 321-365-0425-0314

The next morning we stopped in to see Parson Jones and Colonel Armstrong redwood trees at the Armstrong Redwoods Natural Reserve. The whole reserve was amazing! Ethereal, really. I felt like Frodo was going to jump out at me at any moment. Below, my mom, aunt, sister and sister-in-law are wandering along the path.322-365-0426-0388

Back in San Francisco to play tourist and the sun came out! We were fortunate to be able to see the whole bridge. 323-365-0427-

San Francisco truly is a beautiful city. I grabbed this last shot of the city hall on the way to the airport.324-365-0428-0716

I made it home sweet home just in time to participate in a polar plunge in honor of one of my dear friend’s sister who was just diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. You can see the video HERE. Nancy is just finishing her first round of chemo and all prayers are appreciated!

It did my soul well to see the sun streaming through the clouds Saturday evening on our way to church. My heart has been aching since finding out about a plane crash Monday morning. Two of the four on board, I counted as friends. I cannot begin to imagine the grief all of their loved ones are suffering. Seeing these rays reaching down from the heavens gave me a little comfort. Take some time each day this week to tell your family and friends how much they mean to you.

I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.
