Kids Were Here | June

The “ranch” that is my sons’ room. Someday I’m sure this busy pen will just be filled with the dirty laundry of teenage boys. So, for now, I’ll try to forget how much it hurts to step on a Schleich animal in the middle of the night and enjoy the product of their active imaginations.

Just so Tricia doesn’t feel left out….boots left right where they dropped. (And, yes, our front step really is that crooked.)

For more, please follow the blog circle around to Paola Dias’ blog, where you can see more photographic evidence that kids were here.

The original idea stemmed from a project by Ketti Phillips to document little elements around her house showing her children’s presence without showing them. It was a little study in seeking the small details that tell so much. A small group of her friends began the blog below. Click on the photo and check it out.

  1. I love your photographs. The first one is so amazing. It filled my heart with joy to see the ranch, the animals and think about all the joy your sons have with them. And I love your daughter boots!!!

  2. Those ranches are amazing! I’d want to document that too. My daughter’s shoes are ditched in the unlikeliest places, too.

  3. Love the boots shot Jaimi! These make me wish we were a little further out of the city and could enjoy more space.

  4. wow, for a second I thought that first shot was real and thought “now how does that fit the theme??” LOL… just goes to show what a great shot it is!

  5. Love the boots! In watching out for shots for this project I’ve noticed that I am the one who leaves my shoes where they drop exactly as they are hehe. The ranch is awesome!

  6. Ditched boots! Oh, I remember my cowboy boots growing up. For my kiddos, it’s flip flops and crocs lying everywhere. But I miss the boots 🙂
