Letters to my Children | The Baby
Dear Jake,
I love how you call me mama. I love the way it flows off your tongue and your voice lifts at the end. Like it’s always a question. You are my only child who calls me that. One of the many things I love about you and only you.
You are becoming so aware of the world around you and are inquisitive as to how everything works. I love to just sit back and listen to your conversations. I remember Tricia and Jimmy at this age; it really is the golden age in childhood. The world is simple and everything is possible to you. I hope you always retain your happy optimism.
This is where you stopped and said, “Mama. This is a great day.”
And then we laid on a blanket and watched the clouds.
It was a great day. My cup runneth over.
Love you baby boy,
Mama
This is the third monthly Letters to My Children. I have adored reading others’ letters and think it is a great way to document our life. I hope the kids will appreciate reading this, now and in years to come. Life is busy. I want to use this exercise to keep me present in the moment and remind myself what wonderful children I’ve been blessed with.
I love this age where they are full of questions and the possibilities are endless! Love the photos, especially the expression you captured in the “This is a great day” shot!
Oh Jaimi this sounds like it was such a wonderful day!
