Milky Way over the Prairie

One of the reasons I love living on a ranch is nights like this. We enjoyed a beautiful evening with my in-laws around a bonfire in their backyard. On our short drive home, I pulled over in one of our pastures and we just sat and looked at the stars (and listened to the herd bulls beller at us over the fence – kind of a mood-breaker.)

The Milky Way over the wide-open prairie is a breathtaking experience. Of course, I got the “what is the Milky Way” question. I got it mostly right. Right enough, anyhow. It’s the little moments like these that are priceless to have at my fingertips to share with my children.
