Nighttime on the ranch

The past few evenings have been gorgeous here. We had a full harvest moon last night. I don’t know if I can correctly call it “harvest” since it’s the middle of February and everything is dead, but that’s what the huge orange moon reminded me of.

Tonight, I was hoping to catch the aurora borealis as some alerts I receive indicated conditions might be favorable. I loaded the kids up in their jammies and we drove out west of the house to get a clear view of the northern sky. They were concerned I was going to get eaten by a coyote fiddling with my camera in the middle of a dark cornfield. Never saw a single critter – or the Northern Lights!
