Week 4 | 365.2
7.21.14 – 7.27.14
Braved the drive-in by myself with the three kids as daddy was baling yet when it was time to go. We came home to this. I love our wide open views of the night sky!
Day 1 of the State 4-H Horse Show in Huron. Okie refused to trot in the ring (as the pattern called for) but she was still all smiles after it was done. Day 2 went much better! She and her trusty steed won Reserve Champion Beginner Stock Seat. I was one proud mama to see all the hard work she’s put in on horseback pay off. In the midst of State Horse Show and the Spotlight (cattle) Show, all three kids also had swimming lessons at the city pool. I felt that we couldn’t have crammed more into this week! While watching Jimmy’s class, I found out that Jimmy can flip off the diving board!
Back to Huron for the Spotlight Summer Show. The heifers got settled in and Tricia soaked up the details.
Even though we had practiced at home, showing a heifer “for real” the first time was….tricky (that’s the politically correct thing for a mom to say). The end of the day and six classes later, Patricia began to pick up on what’s what in the ring. I was surprised, elated (and a little overcome with emotion) when she was named Reserve Champion Beginner Showman.
Back to the grindstone at home. Chores never go away.
