Quarantine Prom

I wasn’t going to post this over here on my website but, the more I reflect back on it, I want to document this because what this year’s senior parents did to commemorate the time-honored tradition of Junior/Senior Prom that was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic makes my heart happy.

When school was temporarily (or so we all thought) closed on March 13, 2020, no one thought we would be facing the cancellation of all.the.events. All of us deal with the disruption of plans and schedules in our own way. Thank goodness my kids are of an age that no major rights of passage are being messed with. We are disappointed but we will adapt. Life will go on.

I was excited to hear some creative parents had ideas of making a Grand March happen. Originally, I was to have photographed the kids at Prom so I was happy to still be able to provide images of this first-ever downtown Grand March.

Students walked, at a safe distance, three blocks up Broadway Avenue, crossed over and walked three blocks back while community members clapped and cheered in support. The whole route was packed with cars and people, being respectfully distant, but oh so happy to see others and come together as a community. God bless a small town!
